As the women’s basketball team suited up to take on the Presbyterian Blue Hose in the opening round of the Hercules Tires Big South Championship, there was a feeling of optimism in the air. That feeling had been earned throughout the course of a season where the team improved greatly from their 3-27 record last season and saw the future of the program blossom before their eyes in the form of Big South Freshman of the Year and First Team All-Big South selection, Kyla McMakin.

In fact, the only two that are still going strong throughout this process is Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders, but what does that mean for everyone else? What many people want to know is why did Bloomberg, Buttigieg and Warren fall out of this Presidential Race?

Once, there was magic in the world. It enchanted people across the lands with exuberant sights of fancy and tales of brave heroes and great sacrifice. And most of that magic came from a studio called Pixar. While their tracked record is still a cut above most, it’s easy to immediately think “It’ll never be as good or inventive as their originals,” at almost anything the studio has released post 2010.

Scenario time: the Longwood men’s basketball team can own as high as the number four seed and as low as the sixth seed in the Big South tournament, as the race has somewhat smoothed out as of late. The Lancers own some tiebreakers between the two other teams in contention for their spots, should it come down to it.

A hot topic in recent times, Coronavirus’ death toll has finally soared over 2,000 as of February 20th. The fears of Coronavirus spreading worldwide have only been fueled as of yet, as cases have been confirmed from as far as Australia, to as close as here in the United States. The virus may even be making its way to Virginia; the Virginia Department of Health reports monitoring 162 travelers who have traveled to mainland China within the last 14 days.

As one of DC Universe’s few original series at this time, “Harley Quinn” has definitely set itself apart. It has more in common with “Doom Patrol” than the other animated offerings, striking an extremely adult tone in terms of humor and violence, while also embracing its characters dark past. However, first season woes prevent it from being anything more than an extremely promising start to the series.

To many, “The Call of the Wild” is just another one of those “gung-ho America” books that was required during middle school, like “Little House on the Prairie” or “Hatchet.” The true legacy of the classic novel is likely lost on many growing up today, so it makes sense to change it some to fit the expectations of modern-day audiences. And while this version…isn’t awful, it doesn’t nearly live up to the source material.

Coming off of a 3-27 record last season, it appeared that the only place the Longwood women’s basketball program could go was up. This season, that is just what they’ve done. With a current record of 10-15, they’ve already more than tripled their win total from last season, and the future looks bright with some of the young players already showing what they can do.
