Howard Jenkins finds peace being outdoors at LU

Born in Crewe, groundsman Howard Jenkins has a deep appreciation of rural life and quiet living. After several jobs over the years, including a house building business, Jenkins landed at Longwood University. Known for his smiling face, he said he tries to connect with the students when he can. His job enables him to take some classes for free; he's taken several in the outdoor education program. At home in Amelia, his two sons, Christian and Matthew, attend school, while his wife, Susan, teaches special education in the county.
