It’s the dawn of a new semester; syllabi have been printed and textbooks have been bought and rented. The new year has already drained our pockets because education isn’t cheap.
Luckily, just because our bank accounts run dry, it doesn’t mean we have to look as broke as we actually are. Here are three tips to help you look and feel like the queen you are while staying on budget.
1. Upcycle like there is no tomorrow! Go to your local thrift store and buy clothing that fits your body perfectly. Fashion repeats itself, which results in throwback outfits always being in style.
This throwback outfit is cute and comfortable; pairing high-waisted jeans with low cut plain black undershirt and white shoes is simplicity at its best. Add a bright statement jacket and some sunnies for an extra flair.
If you’re a creative cat, turn some jeans into a denim skirt or make a two-piece out of an oversized hoodie. If creativity isn’t your strong suit buy basics. Anyone can make basics look expensive if they are wearing it the right way.
2. TREAT YO’ SELF! Use the ingredients you have in your cabinet to concoct the perfect at home (or dorm) body scrub. Trust me, it’s possible if you use the right things. I usually use honey and brown sugar in my tea, but if I need a quick scrub I will make a honey brown sugar scrub by simply mixing those two ingredients together. Plus, you can eat it which is helpful if you usually make too much, like I do.
Simply add vanilla extract and turn the scrub into a vanilla brown sugar scrub. Seal it in a container or plastic bag for later use.
3. Get fancy! Get your friends and get dressed up (or casual clothing if you prefer) and get on the FAB to travel to a Asian take out restaurant and eat together.
Asian food is usually on the cheaper side, especially if everyone goes in on the bill. Going out to eat with my friends outside of the dining hall always makes me feel better, no matter the day.
Everyone gets a little stressed and worn down from tackling classes and pouncing on deadlines. Be your best self in the process! After treating yourself and using these three tips you will be ready to face everything during the week in no time.
