In the Jan. 31 Student Government Association (SGA) meeting, junior Rebecca Skelton and senior Mandi Smith, both are co-founders and co-presidents of Community Ties, attended the meeting to request approval of the organization's constitution from the SGA.
Community Ties is an organization that hopes to partner with Farmville Area Community Emergency Services (FACES). By doing so, the organization intends to prevent disorganization with volunteer work and increase tasks available to students involved for community service.
Skelton and Smith stated that the approval would bring a good reputation toward students at Longwood University, and that 16 people are interested in joining. Skelton and Smith also stated that with more members, the organization would strive to reach out to more organizations for community service.
The constitution was approved by the SGA.
