In recent years, depression in teenagers has been on the rise, and accompanying the mental illness has been an unfortunate increase in teenage suicides.
In this week’s Student Government Association (SGA) meeting, a proposal on the dissolution of the deferred recruitment policy was largely discussed.
The spring season is now in full swing for the Longwood men’s golf team, with the squad coming off a third-place finish at the Lonnie Barton Invitational in Florida on March 5 and a sixth-place finish at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in North Carolina on March 10. These finishes come about despite missing days due to weather.
Hot off the heels of “Infinity War,” here comes “Captain Marvel,” an origin story focusing on Carol Danvers and the hero she becomes. A prequel to, essentially, the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel’s first female lead film, a lot is riding on this glowing, alien hero.

Over 30 students gathered with signs outside of Lankford Student Union on Thursday, Feb. 28 protesting recent events regarding campus including the incident involving the Longwood Village and communication to students. Many of the signs were quotes from the recent Student Government Association (SGA) town hall, including “what if someone had died,” “where was our email” and “a threat to one is a threat to all.”

Although Coachella has yet to begin, it’s not too early to incorporate those festival-esque styles into your everyday look. While the annual three-day festival is known for its wide variety of musical appearances, there are also numerous free-spirited fashion trends that consistently emerge from the event.
In this week’s Student Government Association (SGA) meeting, Honors Faculty Scholar Dr. Justin Ellis and Campaign Leader Hannah Pinchefsky discussed Kick The Straw, a campaign looking to reduce plastic waste around campus. The campaign is looking for 1,000 pledges to refrain from using plastic straws for 30 days.

The first five months of the Longwood men’s basketball season has proven to be nothing short of historic. An early season upset over Atlantic-10 foe Richmond sparked their first 4-0 start, hot shooting and a top-ranked defense led to a 10-5 non-conference record and gritty performances over conference opponents have the Lancers fighting in the final stretch of the regular season.
Longwood’s baseball program is no stranger to changes in their schedule due to uncontrollable forces. The program has played their first seven games in seven days, and has admittedly shaken things up for Head Coach Ryan Mau.
Papoose is a New York rapper who has built his reputation in the underground hip-hop scene. Known for his dope lyricism and aggressive delivery, he has delivered five decent albums. Now he’s releasing his sixth studio album, “Underrated,” which features artist like Casanova, Musiq Soulchild and Papoose’s wife, Remy Ma.
In a Rotunda Studios video posted on Feb. 21 “On The Record, Ep. 5,” there was one mistake made in the script: “The event was sponsored by several organizations including SGA, BSA, Gamma Rho Lambda, HLA, IFC, Lancer Production, NAACP, NPHC, and Order of Omega.”
