On January 22, the Faculty Senate approved a ‘Longwood University Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Teaching & Learning’. As part of the new policy, “Faculty are required to include an AI statement in each syllabus, explaining if, when and how AI may or may not be used in each course.”

At 2:12 p.m. on Friday, members of the Longwood community received an alert informing campus that Greenwood Library and Brock Hall had been evacuated due to an emailed bomb threat. While the threat was eventually found not to be credible, the library remained closed for the day.

The Longwood women’s basketball team defeated the UNC Asheville Bulldogs in the quarterfinals of the Big South tournament 72-58 on March 5. On a night where they didn’t shoot particularly well, the Lancers still forced 19 turnovers, stole the ball 13 times and held their opponents to 28% from the floor.

The Longwood men’s basketball team hosted the Radford Highlanders to conclude their regular season in the Joan Perry Brock Center on February 28. In a match that had the Highlanders leading at half by three, great execution on all levels for Longwood in the second half delivered a win for the Lancers — final score 90 to 74.

Beginning in January 2026, Elwood’s Cabinet — Longwood’s campus food pantry — officially moved from its off-campus location at Wesley Campus Ministry to the third floor of Upchurch University Center in Room 306. Elwood’s Cabinet boasts a wide variety of food, hygiene and kitchen products.

Glenn Youngkin, including two members of the Longwood University Board of Visitors. The Longwood Lancers hosted the USC Upstate Spartans for a less-than-romantic match on Valentine’s Day in the Joan Perry Brock Center. It was an intensely physical matchup in both of the 20 minute halves and needed an extra five to decide who would come out on top. Longwood was able to manipulate the defense and get to the line to pull off the thrilling win in overtime, 82-75.

Longwood Men’s Basketball hosted the UNC Asheville Bulldogs on Feb. 12, 2026 for the first half of a two-game homestand. The match, aired nationally on ESPNU, saw the score tied four times and exchanged 11 times. However, the Bulldogs were able to pull a string of stops and momentum to steal the win from Longwood, final score 79-74.

Four players scored in double figures as the Lancers improved to 7-2 in conference play and 16-6 overall.
