Jonathan Bland, physics senior, joined the brotherhood of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. his freshman year, proceeding through the rigorous application and testing process of the historically black National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. organizations. Since then, projects with his brothers have opened him to his passion for mentoring others.

For as long as he can remember, Trevor Goin has been shooting guns. Now, all of that has paid off, as he was named one of the 2017 National Youth Shooting Ambassadors for the National Rifle Association (NRA). Goin is a junior at Longwood University, and a criminology major. The ambassadors are selected from across the United States, and Goin is one of only three Virginians to have ever been selected.

Believed to be due to a decreased student activity fee, a smaller freshmen enrollment and unauthorized spending of reserve funds, the Student Government Association (SGA) began the 2016-17 school year with over $150,000 less to allocate to Longwood’s students clubs and organizations, according to SGA Treasurer Dustyn Hall.
