In this week’s Student Government Association (SGA) meeting, the senate met on Zoom to discuss changes due to COVID-19 and elections.
In Open Forum, Dr. Tim Pierson announced that an email will be sent out to students with updates on the current situation and commencement.
Senator Hurt asked if the refunds being sent to students for housing and meal plans will be split up or sent all at once. President Haleigh Pannell replied, saying that half of the money will be sent within the next 30 days, and the rest in July.
President Pannell also urged students to postpone taking their graduation pictures on campus due to the stay-at-home order put in place last week by Governor Ralph Northam.
In the Fiscal Technician’s Report with Trish McGregor, it was announced that all checks are being mailed directly out of the accounts payable office, but it will take some time as hundreds of checks need to be sent.
In the President’s Report, President Pannell announced that the polls for elections are now open, and students may vote using the link that was sent out through their Longwood email.
In the Vice President’s Report with Catherine Swinsky, it was said that the Recognition and Installment Ceremony will be held on April 19 at 4 p.m. on Zoom.
The next SGA meeting will be on Tuesday, April 14 at 3:45 p.m. on Zoom.
