In this week’s Student Government Association (SGA) meeting, two students were sworn into office. SGA President Haleigh Pannell officiated the proceedings as Sophomore Class President Claire Lesman and Resident & Commuter Life Advisory Board (RCL) Representative Kateleen Concepcion took the oath.
The students will now assume their roles after being sworn in and will begin their positions effective immediately.
In Open Forum, Graduate Student Association (GSA) Representative Brandon Mills announced that there will be an SGA spirit night on Monday, Jan. 27 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Fishin’ Pig.
VA21/SCHEV State Representative Amelia Graves announced that Virginia Lobby Day will be Feb. 11-12 in Richmond. There will also be a Student Democracy Summit on Feb. 15 at Piedmont Community College. Students interested may contact her for more information.
In the President’s Report, Haleigh Pannell announced that there will be presentations on each SGA position throughout the month of February. For students interested in becoming a Senator or Class Representative, there will be a presentation at the SGA meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 25. All students are welcome to attend.
In the Treasurer’s Report, Samuel Torpy said that SFC meetings will now be taking place at 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
The next SGA meeting will take place on Tuesday, January 28 at 3:45 p.m. inside of the Wilson Chamber at the Upchurch University Center.
President Haleigh Pannell announced there will be presentations throughout February on every SGA positions for any interested students to attend.
