Of all the scripts and videos I have edited, I think this is going to be the most taxing assignment I have ever done for the Rotunda. To have something you have dedicated an inordinate amount of time towards and been a part of for over two years taken away from you is not always the easiest task. Maybe my way of coping with this is treating this like a breakup… So Rotunda, I am breaking up with you.
Allow me start out by saying: it isn’t you, it’s me. Sometimes people grow and need to find out who they are as individuals. Don’t get me wrong—you have helped me in many ways and I am eternally grateful for you and Rotunda Studios. Without you, I would not have been able to be an anchor a news show with my best friend, Alaina, wear construction gear to cover a tour of the almost-ready Upchurch or have been able to create On The Record.
Let the record show this breakup was mutual and we agreed to end on good terms. I will admit these past few months have not been the best for our relationship. Honestly, this one is definitely on me because senior year took a toll on me and I know I neglected you at the very tail end of our time together. Sorry, pal, you didn’t deserve that.
While I am sad to go our separate ways, I know you will be in good hands with the new leadership for the next year. I am 100 percent positive TJ will give you the love and support you deserve.
Who knows? Maybe I will see you some time in the future. When that time comes, I know you would be a better version of yourself, as will I.
It has been an absolute joy to be with you and thank you so much for one of the best chapters of my life.
