Not wasting any time, on the Lancers' first shot of the game, junior Amber Hodges blasted a shot from just outside the box and put it in the top right corner to give the Lancers a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute.

Despite all their opportunities, Longwood wasn’t able to take advantage, and was still only up 1-nil.

The Eagles gave themselves a few chances in the middle of the second half, all starting with a free kick from just outside the box.

The shot went just over the net, but then the Eagles came back with possession and a scoring opportunity off of a corner kick.

Due to goalkeeper Maria Kirby, and the rest of the Longwood back line, the Eagles were held off the board.

Finally for the Lancers, in the 81st minute, and on the 26th shot of the night, the Lancers got an incredible goal from the senior captain Janese Quick.

After that, it was smooth sailing, as the Lancers played cautiously to ensure the shutout, which in the 18th in Kirby’s career.
