Reported assault involving robbery

An assault and robbery were reported on Sunday around at 12:08 a.m. from the 800 block of Buffalo Street.

The assault involved two adult males, one of whom knocked on the door of the other man. The victim went to the door and claimed that a college-aged white male was standing there, according to a media release from the Farmville Police Department.

The suspect was described to have been wearing dark blue shorts and no shirt.

The victim claimed that the suspect “appeared to be under the heavy influence of some intoxicant,” according to the release.

The victim allowed the suspect into the home but stated that he asked him to leave after he exhibited “odd behavior.”

After the request for him to leave, the suspect was described as becoming aggressive and punching the victim in the face a number of times.

The suspect then reportedly grabbed two pieces of clothing belonging to the victim and left the house.

One piece of clothing was dropped nearby by the suspect, who was last seen running and carrying a bathrobe down Buffalo Street towards Third Street.

A neighborhood canvas was conducted by officers in an attempt to find the suspect and witnesses.

After further investigation, the suspect has been described as having a muscular build and short dark hair. He is around 20-25 years old, weighs approximately 180 pounds and is roughly 5-foot-10 to 6 inches tall.

The victim received minor injuries and was released from Centra Southside Community Hospital after receiving treatment.

If anyone has any information regarding the incident, they are encouraged to contact the Farmville Police Department at 434-392-3332.
