According to several officers and witnesses, three or four shots were fired around 7:20 p.m last evening in the 600 block of South Main Street.
The Farmville Police Department is currently investigating the report. Several individuals have been located and interviewed regarding the incident.
“The initial detailed search of the area did not produce evidence of a person or property being struck by the gunfire. Currently there are mixed reports as to the possibility of a vehicle being involved or if the suspect was on foot behind the houses,” state a Farmville Police Department press release.
Several witnesses reported a white vehicle, possibly a Toyota, may have been involved in the incident. According to one witness, the shots were fired from behind a residence.
One arrest of an individual who was wanted on active warrants was made during the course of the investigation. The individual is currently not a suspect in this incident.
Both the Longwood Police Department and Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office responded in the incident and assisted with the investigation. Several email alerts were sent out and campus was secured during the incident. Patrols have been increased in the area.
