On Feb. 3, a case of arson behind the Habitat for Humanity Restore was reported and responded to on South Main Street. A utility trailer which contained donated furniture was parked behind the store and was set on fire. The burnt trailer was discovered by the store employees the next morning.
“Video surveillance of the area revealed the fire was intentionally set on Jan. 31, 2015 at 11:50 p.m. and showed two subjects at the utility trailer when the fire started. These subjects fled the scene on foot in the direction of either the south end of the shopping center or the neighborhood behind the Habitat for Humanity Restore,” stated Farmville Acting Chief of Police Andy Ellington in a press release.
