We’ve all been waiting for this moment: Spencer reveals to the girls that Toby is A. Emily tries her hardest to defend Toby but Spencer has obviously decided he’s not the person they want to believe he is. Hannah is still battling with her own secret between her and her mother: not telling the girls about hitting detective Wilden.
Aria meets Malcolm quite unexpectedly and as if that weren’t awkward enough, she finds out Malcolm and his mother, Maggie, are going to be moving to their town. Of course Maggie is supposedly perfectly fine with Aria being in Malcolm’s life but Aria is not completely sure. While playing with Malcolm, Maggie arrives at Ezra’s apartment and somehow Aria ended up with a babysitting job. Bonding time is important for a possible future stepmom, I suppose.
Hannah and Emily are both determined to discover Toby’s definite role as A, but mostly Emily. As promised, Spencer receives a death threat from A. Wonder if she regrets telling the girls, yet? She certainly does when she finds out Emily is searching for Toby and even more so when Mona overhears that bit of information. Spencer enters a panic when she notices the E and M letters are the only faded letters in her death wreath. She is positive that this is a sinister threat to Emily’s safety.
There’s no news of Wilden until Ashley thinks she spots him from across the road at a pizza shop. The irony is not lost when she’s almost hit by a car while staring at him.
Aria and Hannah conspire while babysitting Malcolm but when Hannah has to ditch, Aria has a new situation at hand. Malcolm falls while jumping on the bed and scrapes his chin; but instead of putting a Band-Aid on him and calling it a day, of course Malcolm has to go to the hospital. At the hospital Aria and Ezra began to fight with the result of both of them admitting they know nothing about being a parent.
Things don’t look so good for the two of them despite their okay parting at the hospital. Aria goes home and confesses Ezra’s predicament to her mom, and it’s decided that maybe it’s best to let go of the heavy objects in her life.
Emily also seeks out her mother’s advice, who tells Emily that she has no trust for Toby. Yet, Emily doesn’t hesitate when she receives a text from him saying, “Stop looking. I’ll meet you.” Emily goes to meet with him at his workshop but finds two people that aren’t Toby: the blond in the red coat, again, and a new stranger who happens to know Emily’s name.
Spencer has taken things into her own hands, as she usually does, and is on a mission to stalk Mona. Oh, how the tables have turned.
Meanwhile, Hannah has come home to find Detective Wilden’s car in her garage with all the footage included. It doesn’t stay there for long, though. Hannah, with the help of Aria, pushes it into a lake and saves the day. Or so we think.
The craziness has officially arrived. Spencer is reported to police by “Anonymous” and found in the woods with the body of someone dear to her; her face is completely blank of expression.
By the end, Spencer seems to have more in common with Mona than she would care to admit – especially her new home, which will shock and awe all fans.
