Score a Touchdown at Lancer Productions' Super Bowl Party

Whether you're rooting for the New York Giants or the New England Patriots, don't catch yourself all alone this year on Super Bowl Sunday without a big screen television, hot wings and great friends to keep you company. On Feb. 5 at 5:45 p.m. in Lankford Student Union, expect comfortable couches, a huge screen to watch the kickoff and great food to celebrate a day that the National Football League (NFL) describes on their website as "America's de facto national holiday."

Assistant Director of Traditions for Hospitality Callee Early said, "This event is free to all Longwood students," and said that last year's Super Bowl Party "was very successful."

"If you thought last year's party was big … this one should be even bigger!" informs the Lancer Productions website

"Lots of people make this event have a fun atmosphere that people want to be a part of," said Early.

Leah Utz, office manager of Lancer Productions, said, "We have couches that are all set up, facing a big, huge screen that they'll have lit up. And in the ABC rooms, they're gonna have a ton of food like chicken wings and mozzarella sticks, different foods that you can easily transition from there to the big room and just hang out." Early added that other foods include "chips and salsa, meatballs and plenty of other finger foods."

Not only providing the needed supplies, Lancer Productions will also be making sure to decorate for fans to be able to represent their team. "We're gonna have all the different colors for each team set up. It's going to be really fun," Utz added.

Don't be alone! "You don't have to just sit in your room and watch on a smaller screen," said Utz. "You can go and hang out with a bunch of your friends, sitting on comfortable couches and with a big, huge screen and really good food."

And don't be afraid to have a one-on-one with those supporting the team you hope will be demolished. "You're able to meet new people, even just by hanging out and watching the game with  each other and having everybody rival each other," Utz stated, emphasizing the fun of the event, rather than the competitiveness.
