Longwood Set to Host Two Televised Men's Basketball Games

On Monday, the Longwood University Athletics Department announced that SPORTSfever Television Network will produce two men's basketball home games this season. The two games set to be televised are against Canisius College on Nov. 15 and Seton Hall University on Dec. 23. Both games will be broadcasted live on FOX College Sports Atlantic (FCS Atlantic). The Canisius game will also be broadcasted live on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN). MASN will also give same-day, tape-delayed coverage of the Seton Hall broadcast at 9 p.m. on Dec. 23.

The game between Longwood and Canisius is the first meeting between the schools. That game against the Golden Griffins will include a "White Out" promotion. All Lancers fans are supposed to wear as much white as possible to show their spirit in support of the men's team. The Seton Hall contest is the second meeting between the Pirates and the Lancers in the last two seasons. The Pirates defeated the Lancers 78-51 in New Jersey last year. It will be Longwood's first home contest ever against a Big East opponent.

"Longwood has proven in many ways that when we get the opportunity to put our collective spirit on display, the results are spectacular," explained ninth-year Lancers' head coach Mike Gillian on longwoodlancers.com.  "Here we have the chance, once again, to show a national television audience what it's like to be part of Longwood Basketball and how Willett Hall gets pumped up on game night.  Put on your white, charge up your batteries and let's show everyone what being a Lancer is all about!"

"Last year's first ever home televised game was a great success in displaying Longwood's school and community spirit," said Longwood Director of Athletics Troy Austin, also on longwoodlancers.com. "We are thrilled to be hosting two television games this year, including our first-ever home matchup against a Big East opponent.  It will again be an outstanding opportunity to showcase the hard work of our student athletes and the Lancer Pride that has permeated the Longwood Community."

Longwood held its first televised home game last December against James Madison University. It was the largest crowd ever in Willett Hall as 1,963 people piled into the stands to see the game between the Lancers and the Dukes. Longwood led that game 41-36 at halftime, but lost to the Dukes 88-78.
