Football Picks OCT. 26
Ben Maitland, Sports Editor (15-9)
-Michigan State over Nebraska: The Spartans are coming off of the biggest upset finish in college football this year. The momentum from the last second win against Wisconsin carries over to a defeat of the ‘Huskers.
-Clemson over Georgia Tech: The Tigers will run and pass all over the Yellow Jackets in this one. There's no sting that will stop Clemson's trek through the ACC.
-Patriots over Steelers: Brady and Co. will have some difficulty getting around the Steelers' defense, but not much. This rivalry is always a good watch and this one is no different.
-Eagles over Cowboys: The Eagles find a way to score the win against the Cowboys. Mike Vick and the offense finally start rolling against the Dallas defense, especially the secondary.
Peter Mancuso, Asst. Sports Editor (18-6)
-Nebraska over Michigan State: The Spartans had two huge wins the past two weeks but they were at home. They lose a close one on the road.
-Clemson over Georgia Tech: Clemson is in a league of its own in the ACC. Clemson takes down the Yellow Jackets by a lot.
-Patriots over Steelers: This will be a very close game, but it's hard to pick against Tom Brady even on the road. Patriots come back from a bye with a victory.
-Cowboys over Eagles: The Cowboys have found their running game and the Eagles can't stop the run. Close divisional game on Sunday night, but the Cowboys will take the spotlight.
Tim Pierson, Vice President of Student Affairs (16-8)
-Michigan State over Nebraska: This game will be very close and one might think the Spartans will have a let-down after their last minute win over the Badgers. Spartan defense will make the difference in a win over the Cornhuskers.
-Clemson over Georgia Tech: The Tigers are undefeated this year behind their QB Tajh Boyd, who has completed 62 percent of his passes while the Rambling Wreck have been inconsistent behind QB Tevin Washington.
-Steelers over Patriots: While Tom Brady is the QB in the NFL it will face a wounded Steelers defense and a team with a season to save at Three Rivers stadium.
-Eagles over Cowboys: Philly is another home team trying to salvage a reputation as the "Dream Team," so I think Vick and Co. get it done against the Cowboys.
Eric Hobeck, Longwood Freshman, Guest (Guests: 17-7)
-Michigan State over Nebraska: Michigan State comes off their upset of Wisconsin into the Sea of Red and will come away with a win.
-Clemson over Georgia Tech: The Tigers, off to their best start since 2000, keep their BCS hopes alive against the Yellow Jackets.
-Patriots over Steelers: In a battle between AFC powerhouses, the Pats come away with a win behind the arm of Tom Brady.
-Eagles over Cowboys: The Eagles, fresh off a win over my beloved Redskins and a bye week, knock off Dallas in the city of brotherly love.
