Community SubmissionThe rugby games were the main attraction but the goal of the event was to raise money for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Todd Miller Scholarship fund and to raise awareness for LifeNet, an organ donation organization. Hosting the event in partnership with the men's and women's rugby teams was the Longwood chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. The sisters cooked and sold food, sold T-shirts, posted flyers and were responsible for raising over $2000 to contribute to the fund. President Catherine Sansbury and Nicole North led the organizational effort. Local businesses - Wingshak, Midtown Mailboxes, the Dressing Room, La Parota Grill, Red Front Trading Company and Macado's - contributed money and services to help make the event a success. This lifts the level contributed to date by Longwood rugby and Longwood rugby alumni to over $7000 and the total fund to over $16,000. The fund will be used to help a Little Brother or Sister attend college.

The plan is to host this event every year near the anniversary of Todd Miller's passing. Persons who could not attend or wish to contribute may buy a T-shirt or make a donation via the team Web site. Complete results and stories can be found on the team Web site - longwoodrugby.org.
