While preparing to bury electrical lines for new lights along Madison Street, a piece of construction equipment hit and punctured an underground sewer line for the Stubbs dorm between Friday, Feb. 6, and Saturday, Feb. 7. It is unclear when someone first realized that there was a problem, until several women including sisters of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority noticed that there was water coming up from the floor in their bathroom. Lankford Student Union, Lancer Productions (LP) and the Residential and Commuter Life (RCL) Advisory Board tried their hand at hosting their first Super Bowl party on Sunday, Feb. 1. There were mixed reactions to the success of the party. Several students complained about the long lines for getting food and the organization of the event, while the sponsors called it a success. At the Feb. 3 Student Government Association (SGA) meeting, Vice President for Student Affairs Tim Pierson spoke about the budget cuts Longwood has been experiencing. The school is facing $5 million in budget cuts for the upcoming school year. "The first priority is to maintain people's jobs," said Pierson. (0) comments

With the economy headed downhill and the job market looking bleak, it is difficult to be a senior in the class of 2009 preparing for the real world that is right around the corner. Even though seniors might be older and a bit wiser than they were when they entered Longwood four short years ago, they most likely have just as little money in their bank accounts. (0) comments

As students across the country prepare to graduate from college, many are left wondering will there by any jobs left

Thousands of students will be graduating from college in the spring and unfortunately will be embarking into a world filled with chaos and uncertainty. Two wars raging on overseas and an uncertain job market that may not be hiring have left many students apprehensive about finding a job after graduation. (0) comments

The products that Outta Here, Longwood's to-go dining facility, has switched over to cost around double the amount of money of paper, Styrofoam and plastic products. More than double the price for a product that most of the students just throw away when they are done using them. (0) comments

After long awaiting the day that President Barack Obama would be sworn into office, many people addressed this day as an experience of a lifetime. Traveling long distances, cramming into metros and waiting in lines for hours were only some of the things done in order to be able to experience this historical event live. (0) comments
