Hurricane Hanna stormed through Farmville over the weekend leaving the Longwood campus drenched and several students' cars flooded. The storm was blamed for 529 deaths in Haiti before moving up the East Coast, where it weakened into a tropical storm. (2) comments

Three Longwood students will be in court in the coming weeks in connection with separate incidents that occurred last school year. Charges range from assaulting a police officer to aggravated vehicular manslaughter to alcohol violations while in possession of a gun. (1) comment

Students have noticed more new faces than usual roaming Brock Commons this year. That is probably because Longwood has a larger-than-expected freshman and transfer student class this year. To accommodate the extra bodies, Longwood's Residential & Commuter Life (RCL) was forced to re-open Tabb Hall this semester and will have to re-open French dormitory next semester. (0) comments
