Rotunda Staff Writers Thanks to Beyonce the "independent women" and "single ladies" themes are surviving and thriving. These messages are wonderful to motivate women to be strong, successful and secure, but when it comes to relationships with the opposite sex it can be very intimidating. It is important for women to remember that sometimes a man just needs to be the man and a woman needs to be a woman, because there is something irresistibly attractive about a woman who is in touch with her feminine side. We're not here to take you back to the 1950s, but there is also no reason to go overboard in trying to become the woman on top. No matter how independent you may be, everyone wants and needs companionship.

Think like a man: if you were with a woman who was beautiful, successful and determined to leave her mark on the world you would think you hit the jackpot. But think again - what if that same woman was controlling, dominant and inconsiderate of your opinions and beliefs? Is that something you could live with and appreciate for the rest of your life? I think not.

Sometimes women get so caught up in trying to be what the next woman isn't that she forgets to be who she was made to be. Don't get so caught up in the hype of doing everything on your own and not "needing" a man that you forget you've been searching for a man for the past three years! You will never find a man acting like this, or if you do find one he may have some serious issues.

Men want a woman to take control but not be controlling. A woman who is successful, but not overzealous. A woman who has the ability to pay for the check, but knows when to let him reach in his wallet. A woman who looks good in her pants suit, but lets him wear the pants in the relationship. Men like to feel like they are needed, and women like to nurture, so what's the harm in giving them what they want?

There is always a sense of accomplishment in doing things on your own, but don't forget that everybody needs somebody. It is a beautiful feeling when you are able to share those successes and failures with that special someone who cares enough to be there through your strengths and weaknesses. Don't chase that special person away. So next time you hear the latest version of "Irreplaceable" or "Bug-A-Boo," don't kick that man to tha left. Consider this. Beyonce is MARRIED!
